Images And Videos Parental Consent

IT IS MOST IMPORTANT THAT YOU COMPLETE YOUR CONSENT ON THE ARBOR PORTAL

Why do we need you to do this?

We need your consent because of the introduction of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We have reviewed our process for determining consent regarding the use of photographs and videos. We are required to obtain ‘positive indication’ of consent which means that although part of our admissions form, we need to re-obtain your consent to use images and videos of your child in communications such as the weekly newsletter, on our website, the Academy’s social media sites ,the local and national press in the future. The Academy will only publish images and/or videos of your child for which you provide consent.

Why do we use images and videos of your child?

Dorrington Academy uses images and videos of students as part of displays to celebrate life at the Academy, student achievements, to inform parents about Academy events, to promote the Academy on social media and on the Academy’s website and for other publicity purposes in printed publications such as press articles.

The Academy may take individual, class, year group or whole school images of your child which are available to purchase by parents/carers throughout the year.

Who else uses images and videos of your child?

On occasion, the Academy is visited by local media and press who take images or videos of Academy events. The media may use these images and videos in local or national press or on approved websites.

Withdrawing or amending your consent

Consent given on Arbor is valid for the entire time your child is at Dorrington Academy and for a period of time deemed necessary after your child has left.

Parents/carers have the right to withdraw or amend their consent at any time. If you would like to withdraw or amend your consent, you must submit your request in writing. A new physical form will be supplied to you to amend your consent accordingly and provide a signature.

If you have any questions regarding this form, please do not hesitate to contact us.
