Physical Education

The academy’s sporting aims continue to be a provision of a planned and balanced programme in which the children are appropriately challenged to achieve high standards, a programme which will develop children’s awareness of their own capabilities and physical competence, self-esteem and co-operative skills whilst having fun!

The Academy employs a specialist PE teacher, Miss A Kenny, who plans and delivers PE across all year groups

It is normal for all children to participate in PE lessons. If your child has a medical problem at any time, please let the school know in order that we make the necessary arrangements.

Your child will have the opportunity to go swimming in most year groups. The academy follows the Citywide Strokes Programme which supports pathways from the curriculum to extracurricular and community opportunities.

We have committed a substantial amount of funding to improve sports provision, including an all-weather sports pitch which caters for basketball, hockey, netball and football as well as a state of the art sports hall.

With this development and the sports funding, we are promoting competitive sports across the academy.

Over the last five years, we have developed partnerships with local secondary schools and sports organisations to help all staff improve their knowledge and skills to deliver PE lessons of a high standard. These partners will also assist in the CPD of staff to promote competitive sport. We also intend to use the expertise of two members of the Governing Body who are trained to national level as referees in hockey.

Our community love sport and we extend the childrens’ opportunities through extra curricular clubs.
